Are you sure your '79 had a 403? The 400 Pontiac engine was also available that year in the TransAm, and it had the oil fill in the valve cover. If the shaker had the lettering “6.6Litre” then it was the Olds engine. If it said “TA 6.6” it was the Pontiac engine IIRC. ---
