Three possible causes are severe misfiring, pinging, and/or overheating. Is check engine light on? If so, is it blinking? Has your dealership checked for stored diagnostic codes? If check engine light is on and blinking, best for your wallet to not drive car or even start engine. Tow to dealership instead.

Are you certain the car isn’t just out of gasoline?

Good catch there WW! My old late-70’s VW Rabbit would stall on the freeway for no apparent reason on occasion, turned out to be a faulty fuel pump relay and where it plugged in. That car would also stall when driven over a puddle, faulty coil. If OP’s stall seems related to rain, water puddles on the road, consider that too.
