Manual clock adjustment won’t work.

Have you even bothered to look in the owners manual to see how to change the TPMS setting and the clock ?

Apparently there are lots of YOUTUBE videos showing how to set the clock .

I feel your pain. I have a 2007 Toyota, and to change the clock this month, I tapped one single button. My Forester is a '16. When I do the clock each half-year I make a cup of tea, meditate for 5 minutes, and then do some light stretching. I allocate 20 minutes to the task and I have it down to about 5 now after 7 years of practice. The trick is to learn how the user interface works. On my SUabru it is done via the buttons on the lower left of the steering wheel. On others, it is directly via the Settings menu in the infotainment screen.

My 2011 Outback automatically updated the time, and all I had to do was to toggle between Standard Time and Daylight Saving Time. I’m sort of surprised that a Legacy/Outback 8 years newer than mine doesn’t have that feature.

My friend’s 2021 Forester changes the clock automatically, with no intervention from him, and so does my current 2022 car. But, if I still owned a car that did not do automatic time updates for me, I would be poring over the Owner’s Manual to see what I needed to do.

I’ve got about 20 clocks I have to reset so I start early. I actually have to unplug the microwave and follow my written notes. On my Pontiac though, you push clock, then rotate the station knob up or down depending on the time of the year. So I asked the wife why it was a man’s job to change clocks? She said I get them all wrong anyway. It takes a few minutes between clocks so if you don’t continuously look at your phone, yeah you’ll be off a few minutes. I’ll try to do better. Now that we are in war time, can’t we just leave the time alone?

And, this is one of the VERY few issues that has bi-partisan support in Congress.
Is it enough support for it to pass?
We can only hope so, but it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get in touch with both of your US Senators and your Representative in The House.

My fil was a farmer, and farmers were against dst because of what it did to the cows. I kept my mouth shut but cows don’t know what time it is. You simply adjust chores by an hour and they are happy cows. I suspect the real reason was it changed their dinner time or meeting times and the cows were innocent.

Likewise I never understood how it saved energy during world war eleven, I mean two. The days get longer in spring. Mother Nature doesn’t care what our clocks say. I think it was the start of the idea we could control the sun.

At the truck plant where I worked as a student, they simply changed the start time in the summer to 7 instead of 8 to give workers more time in the sun. Seems like a simple thing to do. No changing clocks except for the alarm.

That does not work for all people . There are many outdoor activities that benefit from the extra hour of daylight .

If you start work at 7 instead of 8, you get done at 3:30 instead of 4:30. Thus an extra hour to play softball or whatever.

I was under the impression that they kept DST for the kids going to school in the mornings. so, they would not be at school bus stops or walking to school in the dark.

I may be wrong but I think that was the later argument. Originally I think it was adopted to save energy during the war. I just hope they don’t screw around with the calendar and may January December or something.

That was what I was trying to say for the reason they may have kept it. I guess I should have worded it better.

Vdc would if anybody. I’m still worried about the Julian calendar and the metric clock. I suppose those Roman’s had something to do with it.
