Have you checked your cabin air filter (caf)???
Possible coolant leak… rodent under the hood…

What have you done to check for the smell??

No leaks, filters changed, no rodents. Bought to mechanic who found on some mechanic website that it’s common in Chevys of certain years. Suggested running vent in high for a bit before hitting ac on

Try using a can of Frigi Fresh in the HVAC system to see if that eliminates the odor.

Slight possibility - plugged drain lines from the evaporator.

As a follow on, @meek58 do you hear a sloshing sound when you turn left or right? That’s a good tell for water collecting in the evaporator.

You need a different mechanic.

That makes sense. The more fresh air you can move through that path the better. Good ideas above as well. Also ask your shop to make sure the cabin air filter is in good shape (if so equipped), and that the evaporator’s drain hole is clear.
