2018 Crosstrek on occasions randomly will not crank so I replaced battery and continued to have a problem every so often. No check engine or other lights on. sometimes I wait 2 or 3 seconds and it will start. There is no common reason this happens.

If you’re not hearing any sound at all when trying to start the vehicle, turn the ignition on, step on the brake pedal and shift the transmission into neutral and then try starting the engine.

If the engine starts, it points to a problem with the park/neutral safety switch.
