# 2017 Toyota RAV4 - Whines

high pitch whine from trans. in 5th gear at all speeds

Check transmission fluid level. If that’s ok, replacing the fluid w/fresh might help, but I expect there’s some internal transmission problem and transmission will probably have to be removed. Before agreeing to that, make sure shop has placed vehicle on lift and ran it with wheels in air, listening for where exactly the sound is coming from.
