Sounds like a common problem, may be under warranty, take it to a Porsche dealer…
You can’t drive it with a failed transfer case, and if you are worried about the cost, well I’d advise not buying a Porsche…

> Cayenne 958 - 2011-2018 - Transfer Case Failure - I know, old news, but I took my 2016 with 32,000 miles to the dealership today suspicious of a failure and I was right. Transfer Case failure. 100% covered!!! Wow…

Can anyone here provide a brief summary of the common xfer case failure modes in this model? Is the xfer case a gear/chain config, or fluid coupling?
