2015 Rav 4 trans fluid change issues

you don’t have much room to add a 2’ pipe

sorry, but if I went the mechanic route, it’s broken and my 6" rachet should do the job from now on. The bad part was I ripped my groin muscle trying to break it the 1st time. ugh

it wasn’t. just torqued at the factory too tight. The issue is a tight space. the longer wrench did the trick like others yelled at me to do.

10 to 20. depends on how much I want to gamble.

WS probably is synthetic. I just saw some video or report that said the flash point was lower for WS than other trans fluids. They argued with a lower flash point, it will degrade faster.

Talk about overkill. Recommended oil change interval is 10k miles. 5k is more reasonable. 7k for tranny fluid is way overkill. Even transmission specialists don’t reconmend that soon. 30k- 40k miles is what they recommend. And they’re usually very conservative.

“I change trans fluid at 7 to 9K intervals. I believe a poster here called transman said”

While I lament that Transman no longer posts in this forum, I can tell you that he NEVER recommended trans fluid changes sooner than 30k miles.
Over a few decades, I have adhered to a 30k miles/30 months (whichever comes first) trans fluid regimen, and I have never had a trans failure.

Your transmission maintenance routine is clearly a case of…OVERKILL.

Not difficult at all. Typical Japs Nuts/bolts are not sticky, so all you need is the begining impact or torque to lose it. 6" is too short, you need a 1ft or longer breakbar. If you use right tool, it is EASY. --I just changed my 2015 Rav4 Trans fluid (FYI). You can use a smaller Hammer (16 oz) to tap the ranchet, it may loose it without a break bar.

Hi Tony thank you for reopening a 2+ year old dead thread with such insights. The longer wrench theory was already mentioned numerous times by others and the OP.
