Which light, my vehicles must have thirty different lights if I ever bothered to count.

If you mean the “D” is blinking that could indicate transmission problems. Have a Jeep dealer or a good independent mechanic look at it.

Does your front door look like it is open or is there a light on the dash that indicates that the looks like it is open ? the 8 speed will not allow you to shift into drive if it thinks the driver door is open . These things are too smart for their own good and just adds unneeded complexity .
