# 2015 Dodge Ram 1500 Won’t go into drive

When I shift into (D) Drive on the steering column it goes to the +/- on the far right and has the number 4 showing. It will not go into Drive and the truck gears are not working properly. Does anyone know what the issue is and what it takes to fix it? The truck is a cheaper model with no U-connect. Thanks

Your truck should have a 6 or 8 speed automatic so that’s not normal behavior. Take it to a good independent transmission shop. It could be something simple.

By any chance you have switched it to lock out the upper gears?  
Not a Dodge, but on my truck I can lockout upper gears, handy in mountain driving or towing heavy loads.

Thanks. I just left it at the dealership. It’s the transmission solenoid.
