when I cut my car off a fan comes on a off !

Page 10-14 of the 2013 Equinox Owners Manual states that the cooling fan can start up when the engine is not running.

Modern cars are packed tight under the hood.  
The fan is sometimes needed to reduce heat soak.  
My 1988 Accord did this too.
