The HS CAN+ wire going from the harness at the engine compartment fuse box that tees off and goes down and runs along the bottom of the sub frame to a spice for the electric power steering was broken.
My ELM327 1.4b does not have the MS CAN option. It connects to CAN on pins 6 and 14, which is the HS CAN bus. A hardware mod or adapter would be needed.
Apparently it does not support the dedicated PCM diagnostic connection that can be used to read PCM codes in a situation like this where the PCM is disconnected from HS CAN bus.
Forscan will NOT connect to the vehicle if it cannot first establish communication with the PCM. However, it will connect to the rest of the modules without the PCM if a vehicle profile has already been saved and you select to load the saved profile. It’ll prompt about loading a profile while connecting.
