# 2011 Volkswagen Golf conks out on first startup of the day

Our 2011 VW Golf wagon (Jetta Sportwagon in the US) has difficulty starting in the cold, until the engine has warmed up, after which point it starts fine for the rest of the day. The EPC light recently came on (elec. power centre). Then it went off. The battery was changed to no avail. It still conks out on the first startup try of any cold day. Any clues would be much appreciated!

What engine? Gas? Diesel? How many miles or km on it? Are you a DIY’er or will you be taking it to mechanic?
