automatic shifts into all positions but will not go back into park with out the help of the override button. ---

a couple of thoughts, 1. **Shift Interlock** : The issue could be related to the shift interlock, which includes a solenoid or sensor. If this component is faulty, it may prevent proper shifting into park or reverse. 2. **Park Lock Solenoid** : Another possibility is a damaged park lock solenoid. This device keeps the shifter in the park position until power from the brake light switch releases it for shifting ---
