Intermittent problem starting car. Car does and then doesn’t start (takes approximately 4-6 failed attempts before it starts again). When it doesn’t start there is no sound when turning the key - no clicking, no cranking - though dashboard lights do come on. When it does start it starts up right away, no cranking, no delay, just like normal. And once started it drives fine.

Sounds like a failing ignition switch. Specifically the “start” contacts that engage the starter.

Before throwing parts at it, try these tests

The next time the engine doesn’t start, turn the ignition switch on so the dash lights come on.

Step on the brake pedal, and shift the transmission into neutral and then try starting the engine.

If the engine starts, there’s a problem with the park/neutral/ transmission range switch.

My 2007 Versa (now defunct) did this a few years ago. I put a new battery in it and it worked fine for awhile, but started doing it again some months later. The wiring harness to the fuel pump had a female connector, and the (male) connecting blades were a permanent part of the fuel pump, and they had corroded to the point that one or more actually broke and was not making good contact. Had to replace the fuel pump and put a new connector on the wire harness.
