I had 2 new tires put on and my tire pressure light is still on. The other 2 tires are also new and we’re put on 6 mths ago. Is it true that I need to drive it 80km before the light goes off.

No , that is wrong. Do you have the proper pressure ? Have you looked in the manual for TPMS reset instructions ? It may be that the tire shop may have to reset for you.

New tires or old will make no difference, if the warning light is on there is a problem. Check the pressure in all five tires, after inflating the tires the warning light should turn off after a few minutes in most cases however this is what the owners manual shows;

_The system will automatically_
_update and the “Tire Pressure Monitoring_
_Telltale Light” will extinguish once the updated tire_
_pressures have been received. The vehicle may need to be_
_driven for up to 20 minutes above 15 mph (25 km/h) to_
_receive this information._

If the warning light is still on there may be failing tire pressure sensors, on a 9 year old vehicle that is not unusual. You will need a shop with equipment that can connect to the TPMS and check for failing sensors.
