Intermmitant starting problem. On occasion it only clicks when the key is turned–engine does not turn over. Starts only after numerous attempts. Sometimes, after 5 or 6 tries and sometimes only after numerous tries. It can go for a week or two with no problem, but occasionally will cause problems, mostley on hot days. ---

Sounds like loose and or dirty battery connections. Clean and tighten them. ---

If the clicks you are hearing are coming from the starter solenoid that would mean the contacts are worn out. Your car is the right age to have that kind of problem. The contacts can be replaced if that is the case or just replace the whole starter itself.
