Recently had my brakes/rotors replaced on my 2008 chevy trailblazer. the problem is when slowing down to almost stopping the brakes sound like when you stop on ice and the ABS applies…The vehicle stops…but concerned what that feeling and noise is…After applying the gas it sounds like something is stuck? Occasionally my traction control light goes on any ideas?

Sounds like a sticking rotor to me. Take it back to the shop (or was this a DIY job?).

If this brake job was done at a professional shop, i’d take it back to them.

If you or a friend did the brake work and this was not happening before the brake job I’d say you failed to lube the caliper slides. The other thing that could cause this is if you left the caliper hang from it’s flexible hose while replacing the brakes and rotors. This can damage the flex hose and cause the caliper to not release.

If it is a sticking caliper, shouldn’t he also expect the rotor (and caliper) on that wheel to be hot? That is, hot brake would be further indication of sticking caliper.

Sensor could have been damaged. I would take it back to the shop and have them look over their work.

It was doing this prior to the brakes being replaced. The drivers side rotor and brake shoe was deeply gouged, the rest were decently worn.

[/quote]I think you may have the answer. Check the operation of that caliper, as well as the condition of the flex hose.

The ABS system might need to be properly bled. A shop w/the GM scan tool can cycle the solenoids and help you w/that. Sometimes the ABS parts get stuck, and that can cause this symptom. Why? B/c they are seldom used. Many vehicles never experience an ABS event for years at a time. I’ve heard of folks taking their vehicle out to some dirt/gravel parking lot and making some stops there, as the wheels slightly skidding on the gravel can apparently unstick the ABS parts.

In 10 years +1 month 1991 Jeep Cherokee with 4 channel ABS which was used twice and repaired twice. Once under warranty and again under recall. First use prevented an accident. Second use was on ice with a thin layer of water. The only hope of stopping was hitting an immovable object which ended up being an 8 ft tall wall of ice. No one hurt and light damage at 5mph.

found out it was the hub bearing. So in the meantime (until this weekend) I’ve taken the fuse out of the ABS…and all works great. Ordered a Moog hub and will have it installed this weekend
