When I let my car idle for a half hour, black smoke was pouring out from under the back
Of the car. Not the exhaust. Smelly of course and a tad bit rubbery. Wht is burning?

I can’t see it, smell it or feel it from the internet. You need to visit you local independent repair shop and let them take a look.

It could be overheated undercoating or floor covering.

We have a 2007 T&C. On a hot day with the engine hot and running, I feel a great deal of heat from the exhaust system along the right side of the vehicle.

Try looking at the exhaust system to see if something fell on it.

Are you missing any heat shields?
