# 2006 Nissan 350Z - Won't restart

After running the car for a few miles, it will shut off and not restart. Waiting a period of time and it will restart. Apparently something is heating up and shorting out. What could it be and where do I start troubleshooting?

Didn’t you think that was a little bit of a hint that maybe something was wrong?

If you can pull the error codes and post them here in the form P0123, maybe we can give you an informed guess as to what might be wrong.

Just put some black tape over the light. Out of sight out of mind, you obvious don’t care what it’s for anyways. Problem solved…you’re welcome.

When the CEL first started glowing, it was telling you that there was a problem that needed to be repaired. If it has been “on for a while”, there could now be a multitude of problems because one problem that is uncorrected can cascade into many problems.

I suggest that you find a decent mechanic located within the fairly short driving distance that the car will tolerate, and have him diagnose this car’s issues. If there is no good mechanic w/in that fairly short driving distance, then you will need to have the car towed to a good mechanic’s shop.
