@oldtimer-11 I think the reasoning behind the F-head engine was that the exhaust valves would run cooler in the block while having the intake valves in the head gave a better fuel flow into the cylinders.

You’re remembering right. I had a number of cars which had the 55 highlighted. That little feature went away as soon as the feds loosened their stranglehold on speed limits.
