engine suddenly goes to high end rpm after letting off of accelerator while slowing or coming to a stop. after hitting the accelerator pedal full travel, the rpm drops back to normal. this has happened three times recently. could this be a failure of the electric module mounted on the accelerator pedal assy?

There may be a problem with the accelerator pedal position sensor.
