Hey all

I’m working on a new to me car and it has a P0497(Evap low purge flow)

I’m looking at rockauto and i am seeing both a purge valve and purge solenoid, and a vent valve and vent solenoid. Can anyone give me resources or tell me how to determine which parts are bad? Thanks a ton in advance.

The purge valve and solenoid are the same thing.

so these are the vent valve and the vent solenoid, which are different products. I’m not sure if the solenoid is part of the valve as an assembly, or if its completely separate. there is a similar listing for the purge valve and solenoid

Or perhaps this is an incorrectly categorized item on rockauto, which has happened to me before…

What the hell do you think the electrical connector plugs into?

Begin by verifying purge flow at or close to the purge valve. Inspect for pinched hoses to and from the purge valve. Inspect the purge line between the valve and intake manifold and between the charcoal canister and purge valve for blockage.

Don’t order parts before the cause of low flow has been identified.
