thinking about buying a 2003 cavalier 2.2 liter from a private owner.do that model have a timing belt or chain.

Get a pre-purchase inspection from a mechanic you trust to see if there is anything expensive that need to be fixed. You can check the tires. If it needs four tires, even inexpensive ones will set you back $400 to $500.
