My car is making a squealing noise when you turn the steering wheel

If the power steering is belt driven, you may need a new serpentine belt.

Is the power steering fluid at the right level?

I’m going with the serp. belt too, and possibly the auto-tensioner (if equipped. The 3rd gen was, but not sure about the 2nd gen) needs replacement as well.

Belt, tensioner, or idler pulley(s) are the the best suspects.
Any decent mechanic will be able to isolate the problem,
none of these items are terribly expensive to fix, though
a friend of mine was just quoted $200 to replace the
serpentine belt on her 6-cyl Subaru – pure larceny !
Now the real problem is finding a decent mechanic
