2001 Ford Escape Serpentine Belt Replace it or let it break

The intake manifold gasket I can sort of see, because according to the service instructions, on that car you have to remove the manifold to get to the spark plug. As long as it’s off, might as well put a fresh gasket in there.

But the fact that they want to do the valve cover gaskets, when you don’t have to remove the valve cover to get to the spark plugs, tells me they’re probably sniffing around for more work to do so they can charge you more money.

My wife was in the phone call with me and she says that she heard the mechanic say “leaky valve covers”. I don’t recall that, but what can you do. It makes more sense than what I remember.
