I have a 2000 Ford Explorer that just starting missing yesterday and then this morning the check engine light came on. About 8 months ago I had heads replaced and it has been burning oil sense then the mechanic said it can do that when you put a new head on an older engine. What do you think?

What do I think about doing high mileage upper end jobs,by experience, more trouble than it is worth.

But it is not certain your oil burning, engine miss-fire condition is related to your high mileage upper end job.

Please let us know exactly how much oil you are using and if you see any smoke from oil burning and when you see it.

Have you pulled the plugs? and are they oil fouled?

I took my car back to the shop that replaced the heads and they are saying that the heads are bad again. What would be making the heads go bad? Do you think it is the part?

The heads could possibly being going down because when new heads are put on an engine and initially torqued to specs after a breakin period the heads should be retorqued. If not, they could become warped.
