# 1999 Ford Contour won’t shift to drive or reverse

Driving 99 Ford Contour at 65 mph and accidently bumped shifter into neutral. Won’t engage in drive or revere. No tranny fluid dumped. Could it be just a shifter issue ? Had a previous problem with a piece that broke in the shifter on this car.

I think that is your answer. Normally bumping into neutral would not cause any problems with the transmission so the shifter may have broken again.
