Oh yeah… Very familiar with the 5fse’s crankiness when filling coolant.
If you want extra pain, try my setup. Mine’s in an MR2, so the engine’s behind the cabin, but the radiator’s still up front, so there are two long metal pipes that run under the car from the front to the engine, and so the whole configuration makes this giant U shape, with enough space between the legs that when you fill it, you have to go very slowly to give it time to pass through the pipes or it’ll come blasting out the other end.
It takes a little bit of witchcraft to get the cooling system properly fed and bled.
