# 1997 Ford Ranger - Hard to start

1997 ford ranger 6 cyl, hard to start but runs great. will start on the third or fourth try. changed fuel filter, starter and plugs. if i only wait 15 or 30 minutes after i stop it starts right away, but if it sits for an hour or more it doesn’t start up right away.

I suspect fuel pump.

Next time turn the key to run (not start) for 2 seconds,  
Repeat 2 more times  
Then try and start it.
