One, or more, of the fuel injectors may be stuck open, or kept open by the ECU (engine computer). To help find out which, get the DTC trouble code read with a scan tool. Some auto parts stores will scan for free.
To determine if the ECU is holding the fuel injector open overly long, disconnect each one and note the performance of the engine. If the engine runs worse, it wasn’t that one.
Measure the fuel pressure. Too much fuel pressure will push extra fuel through the fuel injectors.
Here are some instructions from auto zone on checking the fuel injectors. You can get the 'noid test lights at auto parts stores. [http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c1528003cefa](http://www.autozone.com/shopping/repairGuide.htm?pageId=0900c1528003cefa) Click on this link.
