What exactly happens or does not happen when you turn the key? Any sound etc.

How old is the battery? Has anyone checked the battery cables (both ends) and the battery?

OK, your car just cut off while driving. You get no noise, and the car is coasting to the edge of the road??

Do you have five pounds of keys, cards etc on your key chain?

You may want to mate it with a newer Toyota experiencing “unintended acceleration”. The result should solve both of your problems.
