I have a 3/4 ton Chevy PU with a 454 and I can not figure out why after I replaced the temperature sending unit the temperature gauge still pegs out all the way to the right even though it is not hot.

Did you replace the “Temp **SENSOR** ” that’s for the Engine controls ?

Or the “Temp **SENDER** ” That’s for the gauge ?
 ![Sender](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/cartalk/original/3X/2/c/2cbd95d5f8b1325dbe4f2a4ff4c950e297a57a3e.jpeg)

Your truck should have both, auto parts stores often give you the “Sensor” when you want the “Sender”

Yes, like the 2nd one, the sender.
