Its been a long time but I think that the proper setting of the mixture screws was to start at 1.5, then go in and out a little at a time for highest idle speed. The add 1/8 turn out. Then use the idle speed screw to set the idle speed to specs.
If its a two wire dwell meter, black goes to ground and red goes to the neg (-) post on the coil.
