1/4 tank of gas

Have you ever been swimming in the ocean near shore? Go out a ways where it’s deeper and the waves have little to no effect on the sea floor. Get closer to shore and it’s all mixed up. Try it yourself at home. Place some sand in a glass and fill it 3/4 full of water. Agitate the glass. Notice the sand sits undisturbed on the bottom? Now pour most of the water out and do the same thing.

A low volume of fuel will increase the amount of sediment in suspension, assuming you have any to begin with. Whether or not the sediment permanently blocks the filter sock holes is dependent on the type and size of the sediment. It can be avoided for the most part by keeping the tank more than 1/2 full.

I never tried to say you could not drive for miles and miles with a flat (or even just a rim). With a flat you can limp along. We are talking how long before and engine is toasted, which is not long at all, perhaps some real evaluation about the situation is called for. Is it just inconvienent or really unsafe?

I had an Army friend who’s speciality was the different types of sand, how obscure.
