# 04 Acura TL not always starting

So over lhe last month or so my cars been doing this thing where I turn the ignition to start, the radio comes on, Windows and lights work so I know it isn’t the battery. The car dings 6 times, but the engine doesn’t start to turn over, and there’s no clicking.

Until now I’ve been able to just take the key out, turn it again and it starts no problem, but yesterday it just wouldn’t start no matter how many times I tried. Then I left it alone for a few hours and it started no problem.

Any ideas what this could be? I appreciate it.

The next time it won’t start, with the dash lights on, step on the brake and shift the transmission into neutral, and then try starting the engine.

If the engine starts, it points a problem with the park/neutral safety switch.

It sounds like the battery. Just because “windows and lights work” does not mean the battery has enough capacity to crank the engine. Get it tested.
