Leaving Garage Door Shut With the Car Running

I feel the safest way to both protect and run a car that’s not in frigid climates like Alaska is from under a carport. If you have one you may never have a need for a garage except for repair/maintenance. Garages are not made for car storage. They are made for our toys including boats and snowmobiles and storing junk, lots of it.

Shielding a car from sun and rain is all that’s required to keep it pristine. Exceptions include high crime areas and cars you classify as toys. You know, little Miatas that are afraid of the out of doors. Also, carports are great places to have outdoor parties, rain or shine. So keep you car waxed just in case there is no place left to put it under cover.

Come to think of it, if you’ve ever traveled through very cold Canada, you’ll see mostly carports. But I think that’s a statement about their health care system. They can’t afford any mistakes with carbon monoxide poisoning (you know, the rationing thing) and take no chances.
