My car won't start!

My Chevy Cobalt will not start in cold weather. I don’t think bad battery is the case here because it’s started in warmer temperatures. Any ideas on what could be wrong??

You’ll have to give us a little more info.

Year and mileage…how old in the battery…and when was the last time it got new spark plugs.

What happens when you turn the key.

Do you hear…and are you sure the starter is turning the engine over, or do you just hear the starter spin…or maybe just a click when you turn the key.

If it starts in warm weather but won’t in cold, actually a battery problem is likely. Batteries work on chemical reactions, which are affected by temperature. The colder it is, the slower the reaction.

I’m assuming it doesn’t crank at all. No rrr rrr rr sound. If so, start by cleaning the battery terminals and connectors.

By the way, be sure to have your ignition switch replaced under the GM recall if you haven’t already done so.

It is a 2005 and has a little over 150,000 miles on it
